Blood parrot(Amphilophus citrinellus) is also called the mammon fish. It’s bright red and lovely. It’s not a natural fish. It’s a cross between a Cichlasoma citrinellum and a Cichlasoma synspilum. It can’t reproduce on its own. They can live for about eight years. They are gentle and can be mixed with other breeds. They are extremely resilient to water quality, eat almost anything and are very easy to raise. It is also said that Blood Parrot has to eat shrimps to get a rosy complexion. This is because the astaxanthin in shrimps can keep the color of Blood Parrot. But now they don’t have to eat shrimps. The special feed for them is supplemented with astaxanthin and “beta carotene”, which can keep the their bodies’ color in bright red.
