Like coral, the Sea anemone is known as the flower of the seabed, but unlike coral, it can move slowly. It has stinging cells on its tentacles that release toxins. The fish that lives with the anemone is called Clownfish (Amphiprion Nigripes). They have distinct vertical stripes on their bodies, which resemble the clowns in Beijing Opera, hence the name Clownfish. Clownfish and Sea Anemone often live together because Clownfish have special slime on their bodies to resist Sea Anemone’s toxins. When Clownfish swim among the sea anemones, they bring food to the anemone, and the anemone also protects the Clownfish from predators, in a way we call symbiosis.
