Hammerhead sharks (Sphyrnidae) live in tropical, temperate oceans. They are named “Double Bun Shark” in China because their heads look so much like ancient women’s buns. Hammerhead sharks are able to accurately determine the direction and speed of their prey. They are voracious predators of the ocean, feeding on fish, crustaceans and mollusks. Hammerhead sharks are one of the more dangerous sharks that can attack humans when frightened.
