Archerfish (Toxotes jaculatrix) has a pair of blister eyes and a rotating vertical line in the white of its eyes, so that it can see not only things on the surface of the water, but also objects in the air when it swims. They don’t like the fish in the draft, but the insects above the water. When they want to eat, they will shoot out a strong jet of water from the mouth to shoot down the insects above the water. The accuracy is almost 100%, so they also have the title of “water marksman”. Scientists have found that Archerfish acquires this ability through practice, making it a useful subject for scientists studying fish’s memory and learning.
