Flying phoenix fish (Semaprochilodus theraponura) is a kind of ornamental fish which is popular among Chinese people and overseas Chinese. Generally, it is mixed with Dragonfish (Osteoglossidae), meaning “Prosperity brought by the dragon and the phoenix”. However, it should be noted that the flying phoenix fish has the habit of sucking fish, and the sick and unhealthy fish often becomes the object of the flying phoenix fish, resulting in the death of the fish. Therefore, unhealthy fish can not be mixed with the flying phoenix fish. Male and female fish is easy to distinguish, the body color of male fish is brilliant, female fish is dark at mature reproductive stage .
